DESCRIPTION:From London to Palestine\, Abya Yala to Kurdistan\, our fight for liberation and solidarity must cross borders. None of us are free until all of us are free. \nThe freedom of Palestinians is intrinsic to our collective freedom against all forms of oppression. As feminists we support all liberation movements to combat injustice: we are building a movement to overcome colonial\, imperialist and patriarchal systems\, to build a more just world together. \nThe Feminists for Palestine coalition is organising a collective political education workshop to build upon the work and discussions we have had organising a feminist block during the ongoing Palestine demonstrations and this year’s Women’s Strike for Liberation. \nAgenda\n\n2.00pm – 3.30pm: Speakers and Q&A\n3.30pm – 5.00pm: Workshop\n5.00pm-6.00pm: Communal meal\n\nRegistration and updates\nPlease register if you will attend so that we can keep you informed of any updates and further details about the event and so that we know numbers for the communal meal. \nFor updates you can also follow us on instagram: @falatinamericans\, @feminist_fightback \nLocation and accessibility\nThe event is taking place on the ground floor of Golden Lane Community Centre\, Fann Street\, London EC1Y 0SA. \nThe venue is fully accessible. \nIf you are coming by tube\, the Barbican station is a short walk away. SUMMARY:Feminist Fightback Reading Group: Interviews with Radical Palestinian Women
DESCRIPTION:Join Feminist Fightback and friends for the third and last book in our short look at the Palestinian struggle. Having read a fiction book (Minor Detail) and a non-fiction book (Greater than the sum of our parts)\, we’re now going to read ‘Interviews with radical Palestinian women’\, a book edited by the Shoal collective. \nThis book covers the struggles against colonialism\, white supremacy\, conservatism\, patriarchy\, state control and occupation. In the Shoal Collective’s own words: \nThe idea for this book came out of a concern that solidarity movements have a tendency only to engage with Palestinians about their fight against the Israeli occupation. Sometimes this can be a barrier to seeing them as comrades in our intersecting struggles for a better world and against authoritarianism\, white supremacy\, patriarchy\, capitalism and state control. \nFor this session we don’t expect you to have read the whole book. Instead\, please come having read at least a couple of the interviews\, and be ready to explain them to those who may have chosen to read different interviews than you. \nThis book can be bought in paper format or pdf or downloaded for free from the Shoal Collective’s website. It can also be found in brick and mortar bookshops like Housmans or Foyles. \nYou don’t need to have participated in the previous Feminist Fightback reading group sessions on Palestine to show up – everyone is welcome.
