SUMMARY:January organising meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join Feminist Fightback for our monthly organising meeting. We’re an anti-capitalist feminist collective and we meet the third Sunday of every month\, 3.30pm-6.00pm. For the first hour\, we have a political discussion\, with the second part of the meeting for organising actions and events. DESCRIPTION:Join Feminist Fightback for our January film showing as we show In Between (2016\, 103min) by Maysaloun Hamoud. \nIn Between follows the lives of three independent Palestinian-Israeli women in Tel Aviv. Away from the constraints of their families and enforced tradition\, they find themselves torn between the unfettered lives they aspire to lead and the restrictions imposed on them by a blinkered society. \n \nExhibiting anger/ joy during the film at oppressive behaviour/ high points of struggle is very much encouraged. Drinks and snacks will be available. \nSuggested donations on the door £2/5/10 unwaged/waged/solidarity. \nAll genders welcome. \nDoors open at 7pm. \nACCESS: \nThe film showing will take place on the ground floor of Pelican House\, in the room at the back of the courtyard. The toilets are on the same same level. The space and toilets are level access from the road. \nClosest stations Bethnal Green tube station and Bethnal Green overground station. \nClosest bus stops Cephas Street and Three Colts Lane for the 106 and 254 buses.

SUMMARY:Feminist Fightback Reading Group: Minor Detail by Adania Shibli
DESCRIPTION:Join Feminist Fightback and friends for a one off mid-winter fiction session. Taking our cue from current events in Gaza and the return of the occupation of Palestine to the forefront\, we have decided to read a book relevant to the Palestinian struggle. \nWe will be reading Adania Shibli’s 2020 book Minor Detail. A haunting meditation on war\, violence and memory\, Minor Detail cuts to the heart of the Palestinian experience of dispossession\, life under occupation\, and the persistent difficulty of piecing together a narrative in the face of ongoing erasure and disempowerment. \nMinor Detail was awarded Times Books of the Year 2020 and was longlisted for the 2021 International Booker Prize. \nPlease come having read the text.
