DESCRIPTION:After comming together in the streets for another year in September to oppose the christian fundamentalist and hard right anti-abortion movement\, our coalition wants to broader the discussion. \nJoin us  for an afternoon of collective reflection\, discussion and action as we explore together what the reproductive justice means for each of us. \nIts not just about the right to choose; its also about the right to raise a family above the poverty line\, to create a family outside of the heteropatriarchal norms\, for families to stay together and to chose where they live in the face of borders and racism\, to provide freedom of expression and self-direction to children and young people\, and so much more. \nLets move the conversation beyond the fight for abortion rights to all the other ways reproductive justice touches our lives and intersects with all our daily struggles. \nAgenda \n\n1pm Lunch\n2pm Reproductive justice and what it means to us\n3pm Learning from past feminist movements – what’s worked and what hasn’t\n4pm Building forward – setting priorities and planning new actions\n\nThe assembly brings together groups including Feminist Fightback\, Feminist Assembly of Latin Americans\, Trans Kids Deserve Better\, RS21\, Razem London and others forming a wider coalition of feminist\, queer\, trans\, migrant and anti-racist activists. \n\nEveryone is welcome — whether you’ve been part of our actions before or are joining for the first time. \nEntry is free\, and we’ll have food\, space to rest and a chance to connect with organisers. \n\n  \nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/feminist-assembly-lets-talk-about-what-reproductive-justice-means-for-us-tickets-1845589069589?aff=oddtdtcreator

DESCRIPTION:Join Feminist Fightback for our autumn reading group book: Why Would Feminists Trust the Police?: A tangled history of resistance and complicity by Leah Cowan \nLeah Cowan’s book deals with the tangled history of feminism’s complicity and resistance as it traces the history of British feminism’s alliances and struggles with the law and its enforcers. Drawing on the legacy of Black British feminism\, Leah Cowan reminds us of the vibrant and creative alternatives envisioned by those who have long known the truth: the police aren’t feminist\, and the law does not keep women safe. \nThe book is 196 pages long. We will discuss this book in three sessions: \nMonday 13th of October (58 pages): \n\nIntroduction: Why Would Feminists Trust the Police?\nChapter 1: False Histories in the Shadow of Empire\n\nMonday 10th of November (68 pages): \n\nChapter 2: A Symphony of Order and Chaos\nChapter 3: The ‘Sectorification’ of Radical Struggle\n\nMonday 8th of December (70 pages) \n\nChapter 4: Feminisms of Fear and Resistance in the New Millennium\nChapter 5: Defund\, Abolish\, Now\n\nPlease come having read the relevant chapters. \nThe event will be at Vibast Community Centre\, 267 Old Street\, London EC1V 9NH. It is about 3 minutes walking from Old Street station\, or the 55 and 243 buses stop just in front of the Centre. The venue is accessible and has accessible toilets. \nPlease arrive at 7.00 for 7.15 start; we will finish at 8.30pm. All genders welcome.
