SUMMARY:Keep your laws off our bodies: Free\, safe\, legal abortion now!
DESCRIPTION:Reproductive rights are under renewed attack from far-right anti-abortion groups in both the UK & the US. They are not isolated—they are part of a wider international reactionary movement advancing a xenophobic\, racist\, homophobic and ableist agenda. The same forces mobilising against abortion are also targeting trans people\, queer communities\, disabled people and racialised groups. Well funded organisations like March for Life channel significant resources into large scale demonstrations that promote a coercive\, pro-natalist vision rooted in patriarchal control. \nThey may have money\, but we have something stronger: solidarity. We must come together to resist bad faith actors who cloak their attack on bodily autonomy and reproductive rights in religion and claims for “protecting women”. Their authoritarian views reduce our powers to live as we want\, forcing us into narrow definitions of what it is to be human. We fight for reproductive justice for all —regardless of age\, gender identity\, sexuality\, race or disability. \nJoin us on 6th September to counter the UK’s largest anti-abortion demonstration. Bring your voice\, your joy\, and your solidarity. All are welcome; we need every one to stand up against hatred and show that reproductive rights will not be surrendered. Together\, we rise for our freedom to live\, choose and resist. \n\nAnti Capitalist Resistance\nBrazil Matters\nFeminist Assembly of Latin Americans\nFeminist Fightback\nHackney Anarchists\nRazem\nRS21\nSocialist Women’s Union (Sosyalist Kadınlar Birliği – SKB)\nYoung Struggle\n\nIn the run up to the 6th of September we will be organising a series of lead up events so that we can educate ourselves on the importance of bodily autonomy and the freedom to choose as well as prepare for the day. \nFriday 25th of July 7pm – Film screening of Incompatible with Life at Pelican House \nSunday 17th of August 1pm – Panel talk: Global Struggles for Bodily Autonomy at GIK DER \nThursday 28th of August 6.30pm – Film screening of Esperanza Verde at Farr’s pub \nSaturday 30th of August 1pm – Banner and placard making \n

SUMMARY:Our Bodies Our Lives Our Right to Decide
DESCRIPTION:❌On 2nd September 2023 the anti-abortion organisation ‘March for Life’ will descend on London to demand an end to abortion under any circumstances ❌  \n  \n📣JOIN US ON THE STREETS TO OPPOSE THEM with JOY \n❤️‍🔥 Our Bodies – Our lives – Our Right to Decide ❤️‍🔥 \n  \n📍2 SEPTEMBER | 12:00 | OUTSIDE THE HOME OFFICE (2 Marsham Street\, LDN)  \n  \nGiven everything that has happened this week and the ongoing criminalization of abortion\, we are taking to the streets to defend our reproductive rights. We are part of a coalition of feminist\, queer\, trans\, migrant and anti-racist activists who refuse to allow the politics of bigotry to take over our streets. \n\nMarch for life is an off-shoot of a US organisation\, newly emboldened by the overturning of Roe vs Wade\, their theme for their march this year is #FreedomtoLive. \n  \n🌞For us #Freedomtolive means freedom over what happens to our bodies\, freedom to love who we want\, freedom to walk the streets without fear\, and freedom to cross borders (and to stay!). It means free healthcare\, education\, and public services. SUMMARY:International Women's Strike - 8 March 2023
DESCRIPTION:Feminist Fightback will be joining sisters and comrades on the streets this International Women’s Day. See you there! \n8TH MARCH 2023 \n\n6:30 PM @ TRAFALGAR SQUARE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Transnational Strike of all Women and Gender Non-Conforming folks take the streets to fight alongside our siblings\, to resist capitalist\, colonial and patriarchal exploitation!\n\n\n\n\nIndividualistic thinking maintains the status quo- and the conservative fascist nightmare that is unfolding in the UK demands collective resistance.\n\n\n\n\nTrans and migrant rights are under attack from the far-right and the government. The Police remain a violent institution that protects the interests of those who rape\, abuse and harrass us\, systematically.\n\n\n\n\nAround the world\, our sisters shout WOMEN LIFE FREEDOM from Kurdistan to Peru. They fight for liberation and sovereignty against violent and repressive states. We stand with them because this is our fight here too.\n\n\n\n\nWe are taking action to resist together\, and through rage and rebellious joy take up space to make our voices heard.\n\n\n\n\nWE STRIKE BECAUSE:\n\n\n1. in the UK alone 3 women are killed by men per week. We strike against femicide and to demand an end to the sexist\, homophobic\, and transphobic violence.\n2. in the past 5 years\, over 2000 police officers in the UK have been accused of sexual misconduct. We need to put an end to the silence pact that continues to protect their institutional misogyny and racism.\n3. we still get paid less than men for the same job and we overwhelmingly do the house work and care work on top of it.\n4. this government incites racist violence through its hostile environment and anti-refugee rhetoric. And we do not want the UK to continue to perpetuate imperialism.\n5. we are in full solidarity with all the UK workers who demand the government to prioritise living conditions\, and pay\, over an extortionate capitalist pursuit of profit.\n6. fossil fuel companies are making record profits\, while over 3 million households cannot afford to heat their homes.\n7. we strike with fury and love for the sisters that are no longer with us. For Brianna Ghey. For Sarah Everard. For Sarah Reed.\n8. WE STRIKE AS A WAY TO BUILD BETTER WORLDS TOGETHER.

SUMMARY:March to defend reproductive rights\, Birmingham 20 May
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 20 May there will be a big anti-abortion jamboree in Birmingham. Feminist Fightback along with other feminist activist groups in London are mobilising as many people as possible to travel there to join the a counter demonstration – with creative actions and slogans we will be arguing for reproductive rights! \nCome and join us – we have cheap train tickets from London (meeting at Euston before 9am). Tickets are £20 waged and £10 low-waged/concessions. \nFor more details about the demonstration\, to reserve a ticket\, what to expect on the day and where to meet us email: feminist.fightback@gmail.com \nMore info: http://www.abortionrights.org.uk/event/womens-march-against-trump-birmingham \nOur statement for the day: \nOur bodies\, our lives\, our right to decide! \nAround the world\, the right is winning elections by promising to defend ‘traditional family values’. But they are talking about defending a very specific type of family — a white\, heterosexual\, wealthy couple who can afford to pay for childcare and own a home in an area with well-funded schools and hospitals. \nWorking-class people in the UK are struggling to raise their families in the face of cuts to services. Since 2010\, 763 Sure Start children’s centres and 34 domestic violence refuges have closed. Zero-hour contracts and poverty wages leave many families without a reliable income\, whilst rip-off rents mean that many children are living in poor quality\, precarious housing. \nAfter a trial at St George’s Hospital in London\, 20 NHS hospitals will require a passport and utility bill before treating patients\, leaving migrants with precarious status or no papers without access to sexual health and maternity services. \nThe ‘pro-life’ people here today want an end to our right to decide whether or not we have a child\, but won’t oppose the conditions which limit our choices in the first place. They aren’t campaigning alongside us to oppose cuts to maternity or children’s services. They aren’t fighting for higher wages or better quality housing. It seems that they only care about children before they’re born\, that they only care about a ‘right to life’ for those who can afford it. \nStand with us against this attack on free\, safe\, legal abortion. We won’t go back to the backstreet.

SUMMARY:Pro-Choice Direct Action
DESCRIPTION:A religious anti-abortion group are planning a procession from their church to a nearby abortion clinic. We can’t let this go unchallenged – they might have a right to express their opinion\, but they don’t have a god-given right to stand outside a clinic\, peddle lies and intimidate and harass people. As well as making sure people can access the clinic safely\, we want to do a lively action that makes a stand against the religious right-wing and their anti-women views that are dressed up as concern and counselling. \nAbortion is a class issue! Spread the news to all your networks!\nAbortion is not just a ‘women’s’ issue. And not just about a woman’s individual ‘right’ or ‘choice’*\, which is hard to come by in a capitalist system\, especially for black and working class women who always bear the brunt of such policies – either by not being able to access abortions if they want one\, or being forced to have one because the state doesn’t want them to reproduce\, or having to have one because they can’t afford to have a baby. As communists/anarchists/socialists of various types\, we should all recognise the importance of reproductive justice\, linked as it is to capitalist production and control over working class bodies. We all have an interest in defending ourselves against the state and religious powers. \nTogether we can overcome! All genders welcome! ¡No pasarán! Click here for the FB event\nMeet at the steam engine outside Stratford tube station 09:30am sharp! \nLook for people in Feminist Fightback red t-shirts who will then give further instructions… \nBring pots and pans\, music/noise-making stuff\, pro-choice placards! \n \nFurther Reading / Watching / Listening / Distributing: \n\nSummary outlining the tactical debates about abortion clinic vigils (Sept 2013) \nAnalysis of the attacks on reproductive rights in relation to austerity (April 2013) \nResearch into the threat of privatisation to abortion rights (April 2012)
