Reproductive Justice – Action planning meeting

Feminist Fightback are planning a big counter action against the religious anti-choice brigade in April. Autonomy over our bodies is not negotiable, and we won’t stand by and see our access to abortion threatened. This is an open invitation to all groups and individuals who want to take part and help plan and organise the action. We did a similar thing last year and it was a rip-roaring success. We blocked the anti-choice activists outside their church for over two hours, we got support from passers-by, we made loads of noise, sang songs, played music and generally had a fun and riotous time (with no arrests)! And they ended up not hassling a single woman outside the clinic.
We’d like to repeat this success, and ultimately make these anti-choice stalwarts think twice before they get out their religious icons and spread their anti-woman messages. We think the tactic of stopping them outside their church was a good one and side-stepped the issue of whether feminist groups should have a presence outside the abortion clinic or not. So while we think this is the way to go again this time around, we’d also welcome people’s creative ideas about other stuff we can do on the day.
Join us for the organising meeting at 7pm on Thursday 24th March at the Common House in Bethnal Green.
