Reading Group – The Right to Sex by Amia Srinivasan

November 2, 2021 @ 7:45 pm - 9:00 pm

This winter, the Feminist Fightback reading group will read Amia Srinivasan’s new collection of essays, The Right to Sex (Bloomsbury, 2021). Interrogating the relationships between discrimination and preference, pornography and freedom, rape and racial injustice, punishment and accountability, pleasure and power, capitalism and liberation, Srinivasan’s essays explore key political and ethical questions of sex in the twenty-first century.

The reading group will run on the first Tuesday of the month, starting on 2 November 2021.

We’ll discuss one essay each time. Whilst we hope people will be able to join us for the series, you can also come to individual sessions.

Tuesday 2 November: The Conspiracy Against Men

Tuesday 7 December: Talking to My Students About Porn

Tuesday 4 January: The Right to Sex

Tuesday 1 February: The Politics of Desire

Tuesday 1 March: On Not Sleeping With Your Students

Tuesday 5 April: Sex, Carceralism, Capitalism

All genders welcome. Please email feminist.fightback@gmail.com to get the Zoom links, if you have any questions or access needs, or need a copy of the text.
