Feminist Fightback film club is delighted to have the opportunity to screen 2 amazing short documentaries on the Friday 13th November from 7:30pm at the Common House

Rebel Menopause is the intimate portrait of Therese Clerc, a french 85 years old woman and a militant feminist whose passion for politics and women’s rights has driven her life. The Baba Yaga House, an innovative co-housing project for women over 65, is the latest of her many projects to empower women.

Director Adele Tulli Graduated in South Asian Studies at Cambridge University and in Screen Documentary at Goldsmiths, Adele Tulli today works as a documentary filmmaker and film programmer. Following a research on feminist and LGBT movements in contemporary India in 2011 she directed the award-winning documentary 365 without 377, about the decriminalization of homosexuality in India. Her second film, Rebel Menopause, is the intimate portrait of extraordinary Thérèse Clerc, and her inspiring ideas on ageing as a ‘time of complete freedom’.She is currently doing a practice-based PhD in film at Roeahmpton University, London, and curates the monthly programme of CinemaItaliaUK, that brings the best contemporary Italian documentaries to London.

Island of Dreams: Had we to imagine a queer elderly home, what would it be like? Can fantasy and imagination be a fruitful way to approach materiality? In this movie, we are asking our close circle of friends for an imaginary description of a queer elderly home. Our idea was to engage with queer people in Athens, Greece, in order to reflect together upon aging fantasies through speculative fiction, by imagining, that is,
living conditions and expectations while growing older in a collective housing project.
This fantasy of coexistence in a communal setting emerged out of the desire to determine our own lives on the one hand and out of the necessity to take care of the people in our communities, who are often brought to despair, poverty and loneliness within the conservative, capitalist and crisis-stricken Greek society on the other.
