Feminist Fightback Film Club Presents: Persepolis
Join Feminist Fightback for our monthly film screening. Exhibiting anger/ joy during the film at oppressive behaviour/ high points of struggle very much encouraged. We always have a discussion after the film, and drinks and snacks are available.
Based on Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel about her life in pre and post-revolutionary Iran and then in Europe, the film traces Satrapi’s growth from child to rebellious, punk-loving teenager in Iran. In the background are the growing tensions of the political climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her left-wing family detained and then executed, and the disastrous Iran/Iraq war.
Doors open at 7pm. Suggested donation £2 unwaged/ £3 low waged/ £5 higher waged.
